In the 1950s, company founder Maximilian Berger – one of twelve siblings – took over his parents’ horse-drawn carriage business with two horses and an ox. Goods such as coal, wood, luggage, postal parcels, and much more were transported.

The horse and carriage business was motorized. Transport services were provided using a new “Güldner” tractor (30 HP).

Max Berger painstakingly built up the taxi business with a Chevrolet De-Luxe car (95 HP).

In the 1960s and 1970s, he expanded the trade licenses for the rental, taxi, and transport business, as well as for the travel agency.

In the 1970s, construction of the business premises in the center of Schladming began. The family business grew larger and larger. The Chevrolet was replaced by Volkswagen minibuses!

Taxi Maxi took over the transport of milk cans from the upper and lower valleys to the “loading point” at Schladming train station with a truck (Steyrer 380). This activity was of great importance to the farmers of the “Tauerntäler” valleys, as Max Berger not only collected the milk but also brought bread and newspapers to the farmers in the valley. The daily postal transport for Schladming and Ramsau was also carried out with the tractor. The milk export was personally handled by the owner until 1991.

The business premises in the center of Schladming were completed. The taxi stand also serves as a meeting point for excursions into the region.

Many investments were made: the acquisition of Caravelle VW buses for taxi operations, and among other things, a travel agency was also opened.

Due to the sudden, unexpected loss of company owner Max Berger, his daughter Silvia Berger, who had been working as managing director in her parents’ business for many years, took over the company. For 10 years, she led Taxi Maxi with passion and full commitment!

The newly designed office moved to the ground floor to be more accessible to customers. In autumn, Silvia Berger handed over the business to her daughter Monja Berger due to health reasons. She has since been leading the company in its 3rd generation.

In summer, Monja Berger handed over the Taxi Maxi business to managing director Thomas Trinker and partner Lorenz Zörweg for several reasons (family expansion). Since 01. 09. 2016, Taxi Maxi operates as Taxi Maxi GmbH and continues to be successfully managed at its new location in 8970 Schladming, Obere Klaus 176.

The entire fleet was overhauled, renovated, and brought up to date. In addition, our team was further strengthened and consists of local employees with excellent local knowledge who give their best for you every day.
Partner Lorenz Zörweg transferred his shares to Thomas Trinker, who is now the sole managing director of Taxi Maxi.

Taxi Maxi has now been around for 70 years! Since October, we have exclusively taken over all transportation for people with physical and mental disabilities in the entire Ramsau area up to Gröbming. With this step, we are making an important contribution to accessibility in the Schladming region. All employees of Taxi Maxi are aware of the responsibility associated with this task and are trained in dealing with people with disabilities. They ensure that journeys are pleasant and stress-free for everyone involved. We are thus making the region accessible to all people and contributing to making transportation for people with disabilities a positive example of lived accessibility.
